CREATE A CLASSIFICATION TYPEADD A SUB-CLASSIFICATION TYPERENAMING A CLASSIFICATION TYPEDELETE A CLASSIFICATION TYPEMaterial classification types are used for grouping materials based upon their usage similarities. Begin by creating the top-level (or “parent”) classification type and then add sub-classification types (or “children”). CREATE A CLASSIFICATION TYPETo create the top-level classification type, follow these steps: On the Chemical Management System main menu, select SETTINGS. Find the Material Components section and click Classification Types. Click Add Classification Type. Enter a Name in the Add New Classification Type dialog box. Click SAVE. ADD A SUB-CLASSIFICATION TYPESelect SETTINGS on the Chemical Management System main menu. Scroll to the Material Components section, and click Classification Types. Find the row of the classification you want to add a sub-classification to, and click its Add Classification Type icon. Name the sub-classification. SAVE. To view the sub-classifications, click on the caret to the left of the Classification type. RENAMING A CLASSIFICATION TYPESelect SETTINGS on the Chemical Management System main menu. Scroll to the Material Components section, and click Classification Types. Find the row of the classification you want to rename, and click its Rename Classification icon. Rename the classification. CONFIRM the action. DELETE A CLASSIFICATION TYPESelect SETTINGS on the Chemical Management System main menu. Scroll to the Material Components section, and click Classification Types. Find the row of the type you want to remove, and click the Delete Classification icon. CONFIRM the action. The Classification, including any sub-Classifications, will be removed.
